HELLDIVERS™ 2
You Will Die. Probably From Friendly Fire.
Helldivers 2 is a blast when you've got the right people to play with — the chaos and friendly fire moments alone are worth it. Just don't expect it to hold up forever solo, and be ready for the occasional rough update.
Overview
Helldivers 2 is just a really good time. You're dropped onto planets with your squad, everything is trying to kill you, and half the time your teammates are the biggest threat. The whole "fighting for democracy" propaganda thing the game has going on is genuinely funny and adds a lot to the overall vibe.
What shines
Playing with friends is where this game really clicks. The missions are chaotic, things go wrong constantly, and somehow that's exactly what makes it so fun. Calling in the wrong airstrike, friendly fire killing half the squad, everyone panicking at the same time — those are the moments you remember. There's enough variety in weapons and loadouts that you can actually play around with different approaches and not just do the same thing every run.
Where it falls short
Solo it just doesn't hit the same. And after enough hours the missions do start feeling a bit repetitive — there's only so many times you can drop into the same situation before it loses some of the excitement. The game has also had some rough patches with updates that really frustrated a lot of people.
Bottom line
If you've got friends to play with, Helldivers 2 is a great game. Without them it gets old a lot faster than you'd want.
